The anatomy of the sinus of Valsalva.

چکیده
The anatomy of the aortic root has been studied in different species, and common structural features of importance have been detailed. The findings confirm the universal presence of a wellmarked ridge limiting the distal extent of the aortic sinuses. Redefining the sinuses in this way shows that normally the coronary ostia lie within the sinus proximal to the ridge and it appears that their position relative to the ridge is related to an animal's fleetness. Aortic cusps in the fresh state have no recoil tendency to bring them into apposition but lie in a collapsed open position. It is suggested that prosthetic outflow valves should imitate the normal valve in this important respect.

Bicuspid Aortic Valve: An Unusual Cause of Aneurysm of Left Coronary Sinus of Valsalva
Bicuspid aortic valve is traditionally considered an innocuous congenital anomaly. Due to a better and widespread availability of non-invasive imaging techniques, it has come to the fore that 30% of these cases develop complications, viz., valve abnormality (aortic regurgitation and stenosis), and aneurysm of aortic root and ascending aorta. Sinus of Valsalva aneurysm is an uncommon complicatio...
متن کاملپارگی آنوریسم سینوس والسالوا چپ به شریان پولمونر اصلی: یک مورد بسیار نادر
Sinus of valsalva aneurysm, is a rare congenital defect and the diagnosis is usually made after it ruptures. The anomaly often involves the right coronary sinus and is less frequent in the noncoronary sinus. The rupture of the left sinus of valsalva into the pulmonary artery is extremely rare. So far, few cases with ruptured left sinus of valsalva have been reported. We are reporting a ruptur...
متن کاملپارگی آنوریسم سینوس والسالوای راست به داخل بطن راست در یک خانم 30 ساله با نقص همزمان دیواره بین بطنی
Aneurysms of sinus of Valsalva are rare cardiac abnormalities. They are dilatations of the aortic sinuses and are classified as congenital or acquired. If located in the right coronary sinus they are usually ruptured into right heart chambers and frequently a ventricular septal defect coexists with this condition. This paper reports a 30-year-old woman with ruptured aneurysm of the right sinus ...
متن کاملMDCT Findings of Sinus of Valsalva Aneurysms Involving Two Coronary Sinuses: Case Report
cardiac anomaly (1). SVA most commonly originates in the right coronary sinus of Valsalva (75-90%), the noncoronary sinus (10-25%), and rarely, in the left sinus (1, 2). Unruptured SVA usually remains asymptomatic, but it can sometimes cause cardiac arrhythmia, myocardial ischemia, or systemic embolic events (1-3). Multidetector computed tomography (MDCT) is a useful modality for examining the ...
متن کاملTransthoracic Echocardiography versus Transesophageal Echocardiography for Rupture Sinus of Valsalva Aneurysm
We report a rare case of sinus of Valsalva aneurysm of both right and left coronary sinus (LCS), with perforation of the LCS opening into the left ventricle. The LCS aneurysm with its perforation was undiagnosed on transthoracic echocardiography emphasizing the role of transesophageal echocardiography in delineating the anatomy.
متن کاملCASE REPORTS Echocardiographic Diagnosis of Congenital Sinus of Valsalva Aneurysm with Dissection Of the Interventricular Septum
A case is reported in which a congenital aneurysm of the right coronary sinus of Valsalva ruptured and dissected into the interventricular septum. M-mode and cross-sectional echocardiographic examination allowed accurate preoperative assessment of the pathologic anatomy, which was confirmed by angiography, surgery and autopsy. Dissection of the interventricular septum by a congenital sinus of V...
